New Gordon Gravett scenery book (V3)

I’m a big fan of the scenery work done by Gordon Gravett on Pempoul, his 1:50 scale, French meter gauge layout. So I excited to see, in issue 223 of Model Railway Journal from Wild Swan Publications, that Gordon and Wild Swan are putting the final touches on a third book in his excellent series on scenery modelling:

I’ve written several posts about Gordon’s books and his work. He’s definitely influenced my approach to scenery. So I will keep readers posted on availability – and definitely will be ordering a copy of this new book!

  1. Trevor,

Thanks for the update. Gordon’s scenery work is fantastic and his ideas of fit very well into the simple layout/ module scheme of modeling. Gordon’s first two books have been a great help with planning trees for “Slow Trains Down South”. This third book should help as well. His two books on 7mm modeling have some great scenery shots and advice as well.

With great effect, I would say.

I know Gordon and Maggie, not brilliantly but well enough to know that all they want to achieve is to inspire others. I think the influence was successful.

That is great news regarding the third volume in the series. His work is inspirational and achievable.
This concept of highly detailed scenery fits perfectly with simple railroad much like your Port Rowan branch.
