There are a couple of fun annual events coming up in Southern Ontario where I live. I thought I’d mention them here…
2014 Copetown Train Show
This coming Sunday – February 9th.
This annual show is noted for the quality of the exhibits and the show-goers. While train shows are great venues for exposing our hobby to the public at large, it’s also nice to get together with like-minded individuals and socialize – and this show, for many in the hobby, is a chance to do just that. In fact, there are some people in the hobby that I only see at this show, and it’s nice to catch up with what they’re doing.
For hours and location, visit the Copetown Train Show website.
As they have on six previous occasions, some members of the S Scale Workshop will be exhibiting their Free-mo-influenced modular layout at this year’s Copetown Train Show. I’ve put more information about that on the Workshop blog: Enjoy if you visit.
2014 Doubleheaders Tour
Saturday, March 29th.
This is the 31st annual edition of this popular self-guided tour of layouts in the Guelph, Kitchener-Waterloo and Cambridge areas of Ontario. The tour is usually a great way to enjoy a spring day, so call up a couple of friends and go for a drive.
With approximately 40 layouts open for viewing, there’s more than one can see in the day. But there are a few spectacular or innovative layouts that I enjoy visiting each time I do the tour, to see the progress and chat with the owners.
For hours and location, visit the Doubleheaders website.
I don’t attend these two events each and every year. I tend to make Copetown more often than not, and do the Doubleheaders tour every third year or so. If you go to either of these, have fun – and maybe I’ll see you there!
