
I’ve written a feature for Railroad Model Craftsman magazine about painting PRR 9356 – an S scale brass model of a B-60-b express baggage car.
I bought this model – still in “lifetime brass”, as it was imported by South Wind Models – as a donor car for a CNR baggage-express car project. But when it arrived I realized it was unsuitable for the purpose.
That said, I loved the look of the car and thought the paint scheme was both handsome and straightforward. Rather than let it languish in a box, I found lettering and paint and put it into service.
This was an interesting project in part because I used paints from the military modelling side of the hobby shop. I was keen to try these paints – from companies such as Tamiya and AK Interactive – and I’ll definitely use them more often.
