SP: Oil and Water

Water (L) and Oil columns as used on the SP. Not needed for this layout, but a great bit of bling regardless.

I’ve only just finished gluing down the ties for my Southern Pacific layout, so I’m jumping the gun on buying scenery items. But I stumbled across this pair of SP-style Oil and Water Columns and couldn’t resist.

When I’m ready for scenery, I’ll mount these alongside the lead to the two-stall engine house that I’m tucking into one corner of the staging area.

The water and oil columns in position. The engine house floor is ready for rails.

I expect I’ll use this area to photograph motive power on the layout – and these two details will add a nice bit of bling to the scene.
