Looking up the branch from end of track. The cattle dock will be on the left side of the nearest turnout, while the station will be on the left side of the tracks where they curve to the right. I do like the broad radius curves I’ve designed.
I overbought Woodland Scenics foam roadbed material for my recently-abandoned Proto:48 project – so much so that I had enough to lay all the roadbed for my Highworthesque GWR layout.
Installing the roadbed went very quickly. I think it took longer to clean up and put away my tools after I was done. I like how adding the roadbed really helps me visualize the trackage.
Looking up-branch from the station area. The station will be in the lower left corner, with main track in front and loop to the right. The spur that runs ahead off the main track (left track in the distance) is the goods yard and head shunt. The switch back spur will pass trough the goods shed before ending at an end-loading area – part of the station platform. The main track runs downgrade to the right, to exit the scene to staging (not yet built).
I haven’t yet built the two-track staging shelf: That will come later. But I do have enough leftover roadbed to finish it when the time comes.
Looking down branch towards end of track from the not-yet-built two-track staging area. I’m still debating whether to use a turnout to access the staging tracks, or build a sector plate like I had on Port Rowan. The head shunt is at right.
As the photos show, I have some PECO turnouts and catch points in hand. More are en route, along with a couple of bundles of flex track. I hope to have trains running very soon.
