Bydemill Ballasted

Still some cleanup to do, but that’s all the ballasting done. Sharp eyes will note blocks embedded to the right of the roadbed. These will support the cosmetic point rodding equipment.

Ballasting is always a messy business – so I’m glad to have the worst of it behind me on Bydemill – my 7mm scale Great Western Railway layout.

I still need to clean some errant ballast grains off the tops of some ties, finish rusting the rails, and scrub the railheads clean. Then I can test the trains. But I already know that I didn’t glue any turnout points shut: That’s always a win.

When I add ground cover and grass I’ll use that opportunity to clean up the edges.
