Foreground fascia

Part of the McKinnon Industries complex on Ontario Street will be a foreground structure that’s mostly in the aisle. I’ve cut a chunk of fascia to mount this structure against. It’s larger than required – I’l cut it down once the structure is built. The two trains in the background are on staging tracks that will be hidden within another McKinnon structure.

I’ve been making excellent progress on various projects for my S scale interpretation of the Niagara St. Catharines & Toronto Railway. As an example, I’ve added fascia around the entire layout – including, as shown above, the scene along Ontario Street.

This helps frame the scene, softens the corners, prepares the foreground for the installation of terrain (to fill the gaps between sections of roadbed), and provides a surface on which to mount various controls.

I’ll write more about controls in future posts.
