Gronks On Tour

A letter arrived this week from my pal Stephen, with a lovely little treat inside: A photo-etched headboard for the Gronks On Tour. Today I applied it to my British Rail Class 08:

A British Rail Class 08 at Bydemill

I wanted to make this headboard secure but removable, so I used some of the scrap photo-etched material that came with it to fabricate a clip:

A few minutes work with a soldering iron and ta-da! I soldered the clip to the back of the headboard – but on one end only, so it self adjusts to the right amount of tension when mounted on the diesel.
The clip lets me slide the headboard over the lamp iron on the end of the diesel.
Gronks On Tour! The headboard adds a snazzy splash of colour.

Read Stephen’s Gronks On Tour post to find out more about these headboards and see some prototype photos.

Thanks Stephen – what a fun little gift! It made my day.
