Bydemill stock storage

Here’s a factoid that confuses my friends from southern Ontario: Saskatchewan doesn’t have an IKEA. So while I was in Calgary last month to talk about layout design, I made a pit stop on the way out of town and grabbed a few things that only IKEA seems to do well. These included some short Billy bookcases for a non-layout project, plus three Billy shelves to improve my stock storage situation for Bydemill – my 7mm scale, Edwardian era Great Western Railway layout.

Vertical staging.

These shelves hold plenty of equipment from multiple eras, with room for a few more pieces I plan to buy or build. They’re conveniently located adjacent to my removable staging so I it’s easy to build trains.

Three Billy shelves is a small thing, but makes a big difference in terms of using my storage space effectively. This pleases me.
