A station for Bydemill

This photograph, purchased via eBay, shows the station building at Highworth from the road side. The ground frame is in the extension in the foreground, with the door to the gent’s toilet behind it. I like the shape and size of this station.

As mentioned previously, Bydemill – my 7mm GWR layout – is a freelanced effort but closely inspired by Highworth. I’ve adopted the track arrangement, but I plan to substitute a few commercial kits for some of the structures. For example, the prototype’s goods shed doesn’t really work for me so I will find something more to my liking.

That said, I think the Highworth station is the bee’s knees and would be a great signature structure for the layout. So I plan to build a model of it.

That plan got a whole lot easier last week, when a package arrived from Malcolm – a fellow Highworth enthusiast who is from the community but now lives in Australia. The parcel included plans of the Highworth station. Here’s a sample:

An excellent start on a model.

Thanks, Malcolm! You’ve made this project possible.
